The Florence Opera Academy is active throughout the year with individual courses.
The students who wish to be followed by the Academy in their training will need to audition in order to assess the technical level / interpretation and structure, in agreement with the student, the appropriate course of study.
Requirements for auditions:
- 2 arias chosen FROM the operatic repertoire to be performed by heart, in the original language and tonality;
- Vocalizations: scales and arpeggios chosen by the candidate along with the entire vocal range;
- A simple cognitive and motivational interview.
Individual courses:
Basic course: 1 lesson per week of vocal technique for a period of 90 min. + 2 monthly lessons of repertoire with Maestro accompanist for a period of 60 min.
Intermediate Course: 2 weekly lessons of vocal technique for a period of 90 min. + 2 monthly lessons of repertoire with Maestro accompanist for a period of 60 min.
Advanced Course: 3 weekly lessons of vocal technique for a period of 90 min + 2 monthly lessons of repertoire with Maestro accompanist for a period of 60 min.
Intensive courses: (from 1 to 3 months) 3 weekly lessons of vocal technique for a period of 90 min + 1 weekly lessons of repertoire with Maestro accompanist for a period of 60 min.
The lessons will be structured as follows:
Vocal Technique: You can choose 2 or 3 individual lessons per week lasting 90 min each. During each lesson, you will address the following topics:
- Vocal: in-depth technical and stylistic interpretation of the pieces presented by the
student; voice usage in different singing styles.
- Breathing: understanding and strengthening the diaphragmatic- intercostal technique; perfecting
the breath control.
- Use of the resonators; physiology and hygiene of the vocal organ.
- Character's psychology , scenic posture and attitude.
Repertoire: (with piano accompanist): You can choose from 2 to 4 lessons per month lasting 60 min each.
Study of pieces of chamber music, oratorio, sacred music and opera. Study of the complete operas and the creation of the professional repertoire.
Particular attention is given not only to the type of voice, and therefore the choice of the repertoire that is of fundamental importance both for the beginning that for the continuation of the carrier, but also to a program that over the years can follow the evolution of the voice.
Italian and French language and diction for opera singers (optional course): Individual or collective lessons lasting 60 minutes each. The course is recommended for students who do not speak Italian.
The best students will have the opportunity throughout the year to participate in the public concerts organized by the academy in the Florence area and be selected to participate in auditions in order to be introduced to personalities from the world of entertainment, agents and artistic directors.
Summer courses:
From May to September there is, in addition to individual classes, the opportunity to participate in master classes for a period of five days (with the final concert) with daily individual and collective lessons lasting 45 minutes.
